All it took was a change of name (now all they need is a change of venue from the snoozefest that is Tropicana Field) for the best season in (Devil) Rays history, albeit a very short history. Since 1998 the Rays have had two winning seasons (2008-09) and already have retired one number (Wade Boggs who played for Tampa Bay for two years, but did have his 3000th hit with the franchise).
